Cost Controller (Shipping/Maritime)
Our client is a leader in the maritime sector and is looking for a Cost Controller (Shipping/Maritime) at the Senior Manager level to oversee operational expenses, financial reporting, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting for OPEX and CAPEX.
- Drive process improvements and workflow efficiencies for better financial management.
- Lead OPEX review meetings with internal stakeholders and external technical managers.
- Conduct financial analysis on operating and capital expenditures related to vessels.
- Ensure timely fund transfers to external technical managers.
- Serve as the process owner for OPEX controls, ensuring compliance with internal frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Support both internal and external audits, including SOX compliance and financial reviews.
- Oversee and monitor expenses for newbuilding projects.
- Analyze and review monthly and quarterly OPEX reports to ensure financial accuracy.
- Handle ad-hoc financial and operational projects as needed.
- Liaise with Technical Managers and Joint Venture partners on cost-related matters.
- Lead the OPEX Controlling team, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in financial oversight.
- Manage stakeholder relationships across internal departments, technical teams, external managers, and joint venture partners.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Maritime Studies.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience, ideally in vessel accounting, financial analysis, or OPEX controlling.
- Background in the maritime or shipping industry is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage deadlines and communicate effectively across teams.
- Dynamic, adaptable, and able to think critically in a fast-paced environment.
