Tax Compliance Manager (Shipping/Maritime)

Our client is a leading organisation in the Maritime industry and is looking for an experienced Tax professional with strong expertise in tax compliance, planning, and advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure corporate tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including Singapore, UK, India, and other relevant regions.
  • Oversee tax reporting obligations such as GST/VAT, freight tax, and international tax compliance (BEPS, transfer pricing).
  • Maintain transfer pricing documentation and policies in accordance with OECD guidelines.
  • Prepare and review BEPS workbooks, tax computations, country-by-country reports, and GloBE Information Returns.

 

Tax Advisory & Strategic Support:

  • Provide strategic tax planning and advisory support to business units in collaboration with external tax advisors.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation, assess potential impacts on business operations, and ensure compliance with new tax requirements.
  • Engage with tax authorities and government agencies such as IRAS for regulatory discussions and tax audits.
  • Lead and manage tax-related queries and audits from relevant authorities.

 

Projects & Process Improvement:

  • Drive ad-hoc tax initiatives such as M&A transactions and strategic business projects.
  • Work closely with internal finance teams to ensure effective tax compliance processes and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for tax optimization and process enhancements.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Tax, Accounting, or Finance, with a professional tax qualification (e.g., Accredited Tax Professional).
  • 10+ years of experience in both a Big Four firm and large multinational corporations (preferably within shipping).
  • Strong technical tax knowledge of Singapore tax legislation, international tax laws, and freight tax regulations.
  • Experience in transfer pricing, BEPS compliance, and tax planning strategies.
  • Prior engagement with IRAS and other tax authorities is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
