Vessel Accountant (Post-Fixture Operations/European MNC)
Our client is a leading player in the Maritime industry with global operations. This role is a unique blend of operations and finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Carbon Tax Compliance & Data Management
- Monitor and verify carbon tax consumption data for ballast and laden passages, including in-port activities.
- Liaise with vessel operators to ensure accurate updates on bunker consumption and voyage data.
- Obtain EUA pricing information from traders to facilitate reimbursements.
Financial Transactions & Invoicing
- Ensure timely billing for costs incurred on behalf of charterers (both cash and in-kind).
- Issue invoices to charterers for laden passages and to owners for ballast passages.
- Maintain an accurate record of billing, receivables, and reimbursements.
- Match funds received by Treasury with issued invoices and provide necessary details.
Accounts Reconciliation & Reporting
- Track outstanding receivables, follow up with charterers, and respond to counters in a timely manner.
- Generate monthly and quarterly management reports on outstanding receivables and financial status.
- Support accounts with reconciliation by tracking “in-kind” transfers and updating relevant records.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree/Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- Experience in vessel accounting, post-fixture operations, or a similar financial role in shipping.
- Proficiency in IMOS, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Strong numerical skills and familiarity with shipping terminology.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in cost control, billing, or financial reconciliation within a shipping company is a plus.
